Information on the disposal of starter batteries
As we sell starter batteries for motorcycles, we are legally obliged to take back used starter batteries free of charge, insofar as we carry or have carried such batteries as new batteries in our range.
Starter batteries must not be disposed of with household waste. End users are legally obliged to return used starter batteries properly.
Battery deposit
When purchasing a new starter battery, we charge a statutory deposit of 7.50 Euro including VAT, unless a used starter battery is returned to us at the time of purchase.
Return on site
You can return used starter batteries at the following address during our opening hours:
BEROTEC GmbH
Gewerbestr. 13
75057 Kürnbach
Germany
Return via collection points
Alternatively, used starter batteries can be handed in at a municipal collection point or a suitable local dealer. In this case, the return should be confirmed in writing or electronically. Upon presentation of a corresponding return receipt, we will refund the battery deposit we have charged, provided the starter battery was purchased from us.
No shipping of used batteries
Used starter batteries should not be sent to us by post or parcel service. Starter batteries are classified as dangerous goods; shipping is only permitted under strict dangerous goods regulations and special transport conditions. Improperly packaged or labelled shipments cannot be accepted by us.
Hazardous substance labelling
Starter batteries are marked with the symbol of the crossed-out wheelie bin. Batteries containing certain hazardous substances are additionally marked with the chemical symbols Pb (lead), Cd (cadmium) or Hg (mercury).
If you have any questions regarding the return or refund of the battery deposit, you can reach us via our contact form.
