Thanks to an innovative fastening system, the oil line and nozzle can be installed easily and securely. The transparent oil tank allows fill-level monitoring at any time – refilling is conveniently done via a freely placeable filling port.
More performance, less wear:
The MOFESSOR reduces friction, extends the service life of chain and sprockets, and ensures consistently optimal chain tension. The result: noticeably less maintenance effort, more power at the rear wheel – and reduced fuel consumption.
Range as needed:
- approx. 5,000 km (60 ml tank)
- up to 10,000 km (120 ml tank)
Practical down to the detail:
- many model-specific connection plugs
- large archive of installation examples
- compatible with all common motorcycle types
Technical Concept
The MOFESSOR is based on an electronically controlled gravity system: an electromagnetic metering valve opens automatically, precisely and time-controlled during operation. When the ignition is switched off, the valve remains closed – for absolute safety without oil loss.
Using lubricating oil instead of chain spray reduces dirt adhesion and significantly simplifies cleaning. Lubrication is more uniform and effective – for a smooth riding experience on every kilometer.

Basics & principle
What is an automatic chain oiler and how does it work?
An automatic chain oiler continuously supplies the drive chain with a defined, minimal amount of oil while riding. The system meters the oil on a timed basis and applies it directly to the chain so that a consistent, long-lasting lubricating film forms during the ride.
What are the benefits of an automatic chain oiler, and when does it make sense?
An automatic chain oiler provides continuous minimum-quantity lubrication of the drive chain while riding. This keeps a consistent lubricating film over the entire riding time.
The constant lubrication state reduces wear on the chain and sprockets. An automatic chain oiler makes sense for riders who want to reduce maintenance effort for chain lubrication and chain tensioning, minimize drivetrain wear, and value a consistent, clean lubrication state.
How does a chain oiler differ from chain spray?
A chain oiler lubricates the drive chain continuously while riding with a defined minimal amount of oil. Chain spray is applied intermittently and only works for a limited time. Chain spray is designed for high tackiness and therefore collects more dirt in operation; its lubricating effect continuously decreases after application.
The difference lies in the lubrication principle: continuous oil application during operation versus lubrication that is limited in time.
How much oil does an automatic chain oiler consume?
Oil consumption of an automatic chain oiler is low and results from continuous minimum-quantity lubrication while riding. The delivery rate is set so that only as much oil is applied as required for a consistent lubricating film. Typically, consumption is in the low two-digit milliliter range per 1,000 km.
How clean is an automatic chain oiler in operation?
With the MOFESSOR, oil is applied as continuous minimum-quantity lubrication directly to the chain. This means only as much oil is applied as required for a stable lubricating film.
With correct installation, contamination is significantly lower than with chain spray. A light oil mist on the rim can occur, but it can be wiped off easily.
Is the system waterproof and suitable for everyday use?
The system is designed for motorcycles that are permanently exposed to environmental influences. Sealing, electronics, and connectors were considered accordingly during development.
The rain switch is IP67 certified, the control unit is waterproof and potted for vibration resistance. The dosing valve and rain switch use waterproof connectors.
The MOFESSOR has been tested under real-world conditions on the road and off-road, where increased contact with water and dirt can occur.
Are there independent tests or real-world reports about the MOFESSOR?
The MOFESSOR has been on the market since 2017 and has been used on various motorcycles for many thousands of kilometers in real-world riding. In addition, a long-term test with a simulated mileage of 100,000 km was carried out on a test bench.
External reports are published, among others, on ttmotorbikeblog.wordpress.com and motorradreisefuehrer.de. In TOURENFAHRER March 2024, the MOFESSOR was included in a chain-oiler comparison test.
Installation & compatibility
Which motorcycles does the MOFESSOR chain oiler fit?
The MOFESSOR is designed as a universal system and can generally be used on all chain-driven motorcycles. During development, many typical installation situations were considered to enable flexible installation. Because motorcycle geometries differ, the mounting location and electrical connection options are vehicle-specific. For many common motorcycle models, model-specific connection plugs are available. For selected models, model-specific installation notes are available and are continuously expanded in the “Installation & images” section.
Can the MOFESSOR be installed by the rider, or is specialist knowledge required?
The MOFESSOR is designed so that installation can usually be carried out by the rider with basic technical knowledge. The modular system allows flexible adaptation to different motorcycles and installation situations.
Electrical
How is the MOFESSOR connected electrically?
The MOFESSOR is connected electrically via the vehicle battery and a switched 12 V supply. This ensures that the system is only active when the ignition is switched on.
For many motorcycles, suitable connection plugs are available. Alternatively, the connection can be made to suitable switched 12 V lines on the motorcycle.
How much power does the MOFESSOR consume?
The MOFESSOR runs on a 12 V onboard supply. Electrical power consumption is low:
- Switching current: approx. 20 mA (0.02 A)
- Supply current: up to 500 mA (0.5 A)
Is the MOFESSOR compatible with modern electronics (CAN bus, LED lighting)?
Yes. The MOFESSOR is compatible with modern onboard electronics. The system is powered via a switched 12 V supply and works independently of CAN bus systems and LED lighting. It does not interact with vehicle communication and only draws the electrical power required for operation.
Oil application & dosing
How is oil applied on the MOFESSOR?
Oil is applied while riding via an application nozzle. The oil is dosed at defined intervals onto the drive chain and is distributed by chain movement as an even lubricating film.
Where is the application nozzle mounted, and why there?
The application nozzle can be mounted at the front sprocket or at the rear sprocket. At the rear sprocket, oil consumption is usually lower and lubrication performance higher. Regardless of position, secure and protected mounting of the nozzle is essential.
How is the oil quantity set?
The oil quantity is set on the control unit via a 10-step switch. While riding, the delivery rate can be increased instantly via the rain switch.
How large is the oil tank, and how long does one fill last?
The 60 ml standard tank is designed for a real-world range of at least 5,000 km. The 120 ml long-distance tank is designed for a range of at least 10,000 km. The respective tank dimensions are shown in the accompanying illustration.
Operation & maintenance
How much maintenance effort is required in everyday use?
Maintenance effort in everyday use is low.
The system operates automatically while riding and essentially only requires occasional refilling of the oil tank. Regularly checking the chain’s lubrication state is sufficient. Because lubrication is continuous, the lubrication state remains consistent. Depending on operating conditions, occasional cleaning can be useful to remove external dirt.
What happens during long periods of downtime or seasonal use?
During downtime or seasonal use, the MOFESSOR remains inactive because oil delivery only occurs when the ignition is switched on. When switched off, the system draws no current and behaves completely passively, without affecting the drivetrain, battery, or onboard electrical system.
