Chain oiler for the Suzuki V-Strom 1050XT

Installation report by Frank

Suzuki V-Strom 1050XT – year of manufacture 2020

oil reservoir 60 ml

It was important to me to route all components safely and protected from the elements “under metal”. The standard oil reservoir is fitted on the modified cover plate (web removed) under the seat. On the frame or under the side plate there was no room to mount the reservoir with a good positive fit.

metering valve

Behind the left side cover.

nozzle

At the rear sprocket (as usual). What is special is that the feed runs through the swingarm, so the supply line is better protected.

switched 12 V supply

At the fused rear onboard socket of the 1050XT. The Y-branch is soldered and sealed with self-amalgamating tape. The wiring harness therefore remains untouched, should there ever be a warranty claim…

rain switch

On the left-hand side of the handlebar. In black, for the looks. We oil with our eyes too :-)

control unit

On the left under the seat, in a recess. The unit is wrapped in foam so that it sits nicely in its spot and cannot chafe against the panel. The oil reservoir can be seen in the foreground.
