Chain oiler for the KTM 690 SMC R
Installation report by KTM Fahrer
KTM 690 SMC R – year of manufacture 2019
oil reservoir 60 ml
It hangs on the frame on the right in the direction of travel, directly under the fairing, where the hoses to the charcoal canister of the fuel tank venting run.
metering valve
On the left in the direction of travel, in the frame triangle under the throttle body actuator. For this a frame bracket was made from stainless steel sheet, to which the supplied bracket was then bolted. This made it possible to gain some clearance from the exhaust system. In the area of the engine and near the exhaust system, everything is sheathed with heat protection sleeve. The bolted joint of the metering valve on the supplied bracket is secured with thread-locking compound, because the bolts are fitted “upside down” and I wanted to secure them against vibration loosening.
nozzle
Nozzle led through the chain guide (drilled through) to achieve the most robust fixing possible and to prevent the nozzle from being bent by vibration or tyre changes. Your suggestion. This way there is no “long free-hanging nozzle end”.
switched 12 V supply
slit open so that the connector can be plugged in. Then wrapped with insulating tape.
rain switch
It sits in the usual place, on the right at the bolted joint of the mirror mount. Care was taken that the cable is strain-relieved at the back of the switch and runs in a wide radius to the cable of the handlebar switchgear, following it behind the headlight mask.
