Tachometer, Gear Indicator & Engine Temperature for KTM, HUSQVARNA and GasGas Enduros
Two vehicle-specific CUMPAN variants are available for the sport enduro platform from KTM, HUSQVARNA and GasGas. Both provide RPM display, engine temperature, shift light and ambient temperature. On the 4-stroke models, the existing gear signal is additionally evaluated and displayed as a gear indicator. The 2-stroke models do not have a factory-fitted gear detection sensor in the gearbox – the gear indicator is not available here. The display can be extended with separately available add-on modules for oil pressure, a second engine temperature or Lambda/AFR values.
Two Variants
Depending on the model and year of manufacture, the mounting positions for the temperature sensor differ. There are therefore two variants:
Variant 1 – for the current platform from 2024 and the 450/500 models from 2017:
- KTM: EXC 250-F (2024–) | EXC 350-F (2024–) | EXC 450-F (2017–) | EXC 500-F (2017–)
- HUSQVARNA: FE 250 (2024–) | FE 350 (2024–) | FE 450 (2017–) | FE 501 (2017–)
- GasGas: EC 250F (2024–) | EC 350F (2024–) | EC 450F (2024–) | EC 500F (2024–) | EW 500F (2024–)
Variant 2 – for the 250/350 4-stroke models up to 2023 and all 2-stroke models:
- KTM: EXC 250-F (2017–2023) | EXC 350-F (2017–2023) | 250 EXC TPI (2018–)* | 300 EXC TPI (2018–)*
- HUSQVARNA: FE 250 (2017–2023) | FE 350 (2017–2023) | TE 250i (2018–)* | TE 300i (2018–)* | TX 300i (2020–)*
- GasGas: EC 250F (2021–2023) | EC 350F (2021–2023) | EC 250 (2021–)* | EC 300 (2021–)* | EX 250 (2021–)* | EX 300 (2021–)*
The 2-stroke models marked with * do not have a gear sensor – a gear indicator is not possible here. Both variants can also be used on the corresponding supermoto and motocross models.
Installation
The vehicle-specific kits include the matching temperature sensors, an RPM signal tap and the connection cable. The installation comprises the following steps:
The power supply is provided via a switched 12V line. Many models do not have a factory ACC2 connector. In this case, the connection can be retrofitted using an ACC2 adapter – available for models up to 2023 and for models from 2024. On models without a headlight (e.g. competition-only vehicles), the supply can be realised via a power relay.
Two installation examples on video: Installation on a GasGas EC 350F and on a Husqvarna FE 350.
Expansion Options
The CUMPAN can be extended with add-on modules for additional measured values. An oil pressure sensor enables continuous monitoring and display of actual oil pressure – the original oil pressure switch is retained. Matching kits are available for models up to 2023 and models from 2024. A second engine temperature, such as coolant temperature, can be connected via an additional temperature module. For mixture assessment, Lambda or AFR values can be displayed via an external Lambda controller. Additionally, a 12V voltage display can be added to monitor the electrical system voltage.
The technical background on all measured values and connection options is described in the general article: RPM, Engine Temperature & More – CUMPAN on Any Internal Combustion Engine.
Display Mounting
Two mounts are available for attaching the display to the handlebar: a standard mount for 28-mm handlebars and a special variant for sport enduros from model year 2024, where the revised handlebar clamp offers less space.
